Acting On Inspiration
by Ron Tatar October 2001
Good words are something actors love. I have always liked finding quotes, thoughts and sayings and sharing them with people I thought might enjoy them. Each month I will share some words that have inspired me, given me understanding and helped me keep things in perspective when times were rocky.
"The best index to a person's character is how he treats people who
can't do him any good, and how he treats people who can't fight back."
---Abigail Van Buren
"With respect to the extravagance of actors, as a traditional character,
it is not to be wondered at. They live from hand to mouth:they plunge
from want into luxury;they have no means of making money breed, and
all professions that do not live by turning money into money, or have not
a certainty of accumulating it in the end by parsimony, spend it. Uncertain
of the future, they make sure of the present moment. This is not unwise."
---William Hazlitt
"My brother used to ask the birds to forgive him;that sounds senseless
but it is right;for all is like the ocean, all things flow and touch each other;
a disturbance in one place is felt at the other end of the world..."
---Fyodor Dostoyevski
"That all things are possible to him who believes; that they are less
difficult to him who hopes; that they are more easy to him who loves,
and still more easy to him who perseveres in the practice of these
three virtues."
---Brother Lawrence
"Develop interest in life as you see it, in people, things, literature,
music-The world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures,
beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself."
---Henry Miller
"As people used to be wrong about the motion of the sun, so they are
still wrong about the motion of the future. The future stands still; it is
we who move in infinite space."
---Rainer Maria Rilke
