For the first half of rehearsals we meet every Sunday-Wednesday at 7 p.m. After the show-in-performance closes, however, we begin rehearsing the new show every night. Rehearsals generally last from 7-10 p.m.
The Velvet Rut Theatre is an intimate performance/rehearsal space in the heart of a historic house on East 7th Street, just a few blocks East of IH-35. An operating theatre since 2006, the Rut hosts about 30-35 people, with seating on multiple levels and a TV screen on each side of the stage offering different perspectives of the show. Once inside the Beast's enchanted castle, the members of his court -- who have been transformed into household objects like clocks and candlesticks -- decide to play matchmakers to try to break the spell.
